"Stake my future on a hell of a past, Looks like tomorrow is coming on fast
Ain't complaining 'bout what I got, Seen better times, but who has not?"
-Silvio
Hi everyone. First off I have been flodded with emails from Illinois. I plan on writing most of you personally as soon as I get my head together and focus on it... hopefully tomorrow. I think of you all and I pray that we will all find the grace to continue to do the things we are called to do...and be the people that we are destined to be. Ya know that destiny thing right? Its that little voice inside that never leaves you. Even if your mom and dad and all your friends desert...that DESTINY thing will carry you. For some that destiny is in the heart of God. For some its another higher power. But let us all have the strength and courage to face our addictions and the challenges that it brings our families. You are not alone. You are not a "bad person" if you are an addict. Stay strong and may the transparent fog of isolation, fear, and confusion be blown away. Sweet clarity. Sweet sweet clarity!
I did a show at Cambridge Rindge and Latin. I love that school because the students are so open and respectful and theres a woman named Eileen that is one of the coolest people on this earth. She visited with an ex-student today while I observed...And you can just see the love and care she has for her students and her job. Anyway I got a standing O today. I felt that the readind of the "connected" poem at the end was the best I ever read it. I was on fire:-) I walked off the stage and threw my visor backwards without looking...and it landed right on the chair that it was supposed...(booooowip) Patrick Ewing would have been proud. He's an alum of the school for those who have been living under a rock:-)
"God give me the serenity to accept things which cannot be changed;
Give me courage to change things which must be changed;
And the wisdom to distinguish one from the other."
Somethings you can change.
Go to the links below to see your government at work. Basically YOUR senate is passing a bill making it harder for people to file for bankruptcy. This benefits the banks and credit companies. It hurts you and me. The VAST MAJORITY of bankruptcy cases come from unpaid medical bills and divorce type situations. Tomorrow your governemt plans to vote on some serious stuff that AFFECTS you. Call your senator and let them know how you feel. read the links below and let your voice be heard. I mean I have always wanted to go back in time and I have always wanted to visit England. But recreating Charles Dickens world of feast or famine is not how I wanted to do it.
I mean we all complain about how things are and so often its because our government works in secrets and passes crazy laws and policies under the radar. March 10th is one of those days where stuff will be flying under the radar. If you don't believe me watch Cspan. Tomorrow the VP and the senate are going to try and make it illegal for senators to fillibuster and debate people that the president nominates to judgeships. That is the foundation of our governement. Debate and dissension. Republicans fillibustered when Clinton was president. Its a constitutional right. Its especially important for judicial nominations. Think of it this way....When they debate and fillibuster over a law/bill being passed...its like "oh well even if we don't stop it we can always someday maybe get enough support to overturn it." But with a judicial appointment...its for LIFE. Once that judge has his seat...He will make laws for you and me....forever. Regardless of your political persuasion you should realize that the way to make change is to debate and engage the public...Not force them on the public by changing the laws under their nose.
So read below and act as your heart tells you
This is the guy that the president is trying to make a judge
This is the bankruptcy story
This is where you can find your senator and contact them. Do it. They dig
it:-)
